Crane Center Staff Among Those Named in New Grant Award

Led by OSU Distinguished Scholar Kevin Passino in the College of Engineering, The Battelle Engineering, Technology and Human Affairs (BETHA) Endowment committee has chosen the project, Adaptive Ambience Technology in the Preschool Classroom for Children Exposed to Trauma, to receive funding in the amount of $60,000 for the 2019-2021 grant period. The central goal of the project is to reduce trauma-induced stress in vulnerable children by developing ambience technology for the preschool classroom, which will include documenting stress levels in a diverse classroom of children aged 3 to 5 years and measuring the impact of adaptive ambiance (i.e., light and sound) on stress reduction for children.
This interdisciplinary project includes the Crane Center’s Abel Koury and Kelly Boone and the Schoenbaum Family Center’s Anneliese Johnson and Olivia Diaz Melgarejo, as well as Emre Ertin from the College of Engineering, Matt Lewis from the College of Arts and Sciences, and Shelby Spare Werner from Bethel Olentangy Psychological Services.
