State lawmakers recently proposed removing retention from Ohio’s third-grade reading guarantee.

Our associate director of policy and external affairs Jamie O’Leary recently spoke to The Columbus Dispatch about the third-grade reading guarantee, a new bill that would end the student retention requirement, and about whether the guarantee has had the intended result of improved reading achievement.

Two additional Ohio news outlets, the Akron Beacon Journal and the Statehouse News Bureau, cited our third-grade reading guarantee white paper published in 2019 as part of their coverage on this proposed bill.
