Big Idea seed grant winners

Congratulations to our Crane researchers who were awarded two of the four seed grants given by Dean Don Pope-Davis of OSU’s College of Education and Human Ecology. These projects will run for two years and include partnerships across the college, community, and with post-doctoral researchers. Crane faculty associate Dr. Matthew Brock, along with faculty associate Dr. Shayne Piasta, and graduate students Kaitlyn Viera, Kate Anderson, Jenna Hurlburt, Sarah Hudler, and Sara Martin, will partner with Reynoldsburg City Schools, Dublin City Schools, and Bridgeway Academy to better understand how to best teach nonverbal students to read by making changes in early childhood education. Crane faculty associate Dr. Arya Ansari, along with faculty associate Dr. Kelly Purtell and graduate student Maria Abdul-Masih, will partner with Columbus City Schools to help reduce chronic absenteeism.
