Read It Again! expands its free training and resources to early educators
This year, Read It Again!, a flagship program based on Dr. Laura Justice’s early literacy and language research, launched statewide along with county- and city-wide expansion. This development, made possible through funding partnerships with key stakeholders such as the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS), Ohio Department of Education, Future Ready Columbus, The Ohio State University, and Mayor Ginther’s Early Start Columbus program, marks a significant milestone in the program’s evolution.
Developed in the mid-2000s through close collaboration with educators, administrators, and researchers, Read It Again! is an essential component of the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy’s body of evidence-based practices. This easy-to-follow, free curriculum supplement helps cultivate young children’s early foundations in language and literacy. By leveraging a series of 15 storybooks with corresponding lessons, Read It Again! strengthens the work already in progress in early child care and education settings.
Thus far, over 5,275 early childhood centers and family child care providers, funded by ODJFS, have received a complete set of storybooks. Additionally, more than 1,000 early childhood educators have completed the two-hour Ohio Approved online training, granting them access to both curriculum supplements, Read It Again! Infants and Toddlers (for children birth to age 3) and Read It Again! PreK (for ages 3-5).
