Huang receives Fulbright-Hays grant to take language teachers to Taiwan

Dr. Becky Hsuanhua Huang, professor of Multilingual Language Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the Ohio State University and a faculty associate in the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and PolicyCrane faculty associate Dr. Becky Huang has received a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad award from the U.S. Department of Education to lead a dozen pre-service or in-service educators to Taiwan in the summer of 2025 to teach English in K-12 schools and to learn about multilingual education through a comparative lens.

The educators, who either would be studying to become K-12 teachers or are currently teaching in central Ohio schools, will spend four weeks in Taiwan, where they will teach English in a K-12 school as a practicum or special topic class. They will also be taking Mandarin language courses and comparative education seminars. Assisting Huang in this summer program is Dr. Ivan Stefano, director of Intercultural English Language Programs in the Department of Teaching and Learning in Ohio State’s College of Education and Human Ecology.
