Four Crane Center faculty associates have been recognized as among the top 2% of scientists worldwide for their impact on current research, according to the most recent Stanford/Elsevier database of top-cited scientists.

Dr. Arya Ansari, Dr. Matthew Brock, Dr. Laura Justice — who is also Crane’s executive director — and Dr. Shayne Piasta made the prestigious list, which is determined by a database that tracks how often research published by scientists in 2023 was referred to in other research published up to August 1, 2024.

Justice and Piasta were further recognized in the database for their career impact. Both scholars are among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in how often any of their research — not just from 2023 — has been cited in scholarly publications.

These recognitions underscore how Crane research is at the cutting edge for examining issues in early childhood.

The criteria underlying the Stanford/Elsevier database were established by Stanford medical researcher Dr. John P.A. Ioannidis and utilize the Scopus scientific abstract and citation database developed by academic publisher Elsevier.
