Summer Success: Promoting Kindergarten Readiness

Ohio State's Office of Outreach and Engagement Impact Grant program has awarded $60k to SFCCEC to address the challenge of improving kindergarten readiness for children entering school. The summer camp is designed to bridge research and practice by developing, implementing and evaluating an innovative, comprehensive kindergarten readiness program to 4-year-old children within the Weinland Park community. CCEC Faculty Affiliate awarded prestigious Fulbright honor

CCEC Faculty Affiliate, Sarah Gallo, assistant professor of teaching and learning, is a U.S. Fulbright Fellow. She is one of three Ohio State professors awarded this year’s prestigious award which offers grants to U.S. faculty and professionals for conducting research and lectures in international settings. “It is very exciting to see one of our young, outstanding faculty members recognized as a Fulbright Scholar,” said Sandra A. Justice named Editor-in-Chief of Early Childhood Research Quarterly

Laura Justice, EHE Distinguished Professor, Teaching and Learning, Executive Director of the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy, and The Schoenbaum Family Center has been named Editor-In-Chief of Early Childhood Research Quarterly for a three year term beginning Jan. 1, 2016. Justice is an expert in developmental vulnerabilities in language and literacy acquisition in young children. Her work focuses on teacher and parent interventions on children’s learning, including the effective use of storybooks. She also studies classroom quality in early childhood and how quality affects children’s gains within the classroom.   Read More
